Why Are They Doing This?

On February 16, 2008 (New Style), I received a letter from an anonymous priest, forwarded to me in the hope that "some of these things were not true".  It contained a series of attacks on my person by a leader in the "Antiochian Western Rite Vicariate", including a detailed search of things I had written years past, and for no reason, attacks on my wife as well.  The primary and stated motivation in this letter was to give people ammunition against my person, "skeletons in my closet", to avoid having to debate what I was saying concerning the Western Orthodox Ritual on the Internet, going so far as to call the ancient Hispano-Mozarabic rite a "vagante" ritual, while attributing the authorship of a website critical of them to myself, which I had nothing to do with.

It was sent by a "Deacon Benjamin Johnson", whom I knew of from his heretical and schismatic "Western Orthodoxy" website, but who had never corresponded with me, regardless of my previous attempts to have him correct a false, public, accusation of a priestmonk of theft.  I certainly was not aware that he was made a deacon from his website; apparently for the good work of attacking Western and Orthodox Christians who cared about real Western Orthodoxy, Mr Johnson was ordained a deacon.

It was this reality that began the creation of this website.  Most traditional Orthodox Christians are aware that what Benjamin Johnson and his Antiochian Western Rite Vicariate are offering people is a fraud upon Western Orthodoxy.  What they aren't aware of is that a sustained questioning of the false principles upon which the Vicariate's current missionary work is founded will earn you the secret ear of the higher-ups of the Vicariate, which will listen very carefully for anything they can use against you personally to protect themselves.

And lacking such --as in the tragic case of Hieromonk Aidan (Keller), -- they will simply resort to slander, such that could get one sued in a court of law, if they made the mistake of choosing a victim with a large enough income.  While the canons  specifically note Orthodox Christians should not sue each other in a court of law, it says nothing of cultists who sympathize not with Orthodox Christians, but schismatics and heretics from their "sister-churches".

I know now that members of the Vicariate's leadership, possibly even Fr Paul himself, are reading this.  Certainly Mr. Deacon Ben Johnson is.

And so let me address them personally when I say:

You picked the wrong one, because I will not back down.  It has become high time to expose your fraud (and I say that without fear) upon Westerners who search for the living water of Orthodoxy and have been offered mud from you.  St Irenaeus of Lyons said concerning the heretics, we must "strip the fox".  Methinks the Western Orthodox Catholic Christians (some of whom are kind enough to include you among their number, although noting your delusion) have had enough of your charade, and its time you answered our questions about your so-called "Western Rites".

Prepare to respond, and prepare well.  Because we have unfinished business.  Because for every sin you rightfully accuse me of, I will offer two violations of the canons and doctrine of the Orthodox Faith on your part.

And then we shall look at the results when we are finished.

Let it be known that I am not writing this to hurt anyone's feelings. I am not too concerned about feelings; rather I feel the need to warn those in the AWRV that by taking the course you have adopted, you are in grave spiritual danger.  Thus, for the good of the souls in the "Vicariate", I only hope they turn back from the destructive and syncretistic path they have chosen, instead choosing the path of the Fathers of the Church, the path of Sacred and Orthodox Tradition, which nourishes the sons of the Church from the East to the West.
